And here's getting back, as promised, with the second installment of cherished onscreen friendships from the new century's Bollywood flicks.

Without much more ado, here we go!

Dil Chahta Hai (2001
)

Actors: Akshaye Khanna, Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan

"Dil chahta hai, kabhi na beete chamkeele din dil chahta hai,
hum na rahein kabhi yaaron ke bin..."

A phenomenal leap in Bollywood's film making and story telling, at the advent of a new century - DCH was surely everything that can be called a path breaker. Witty, and smartly befitting the youth of today, it is the tale of 3 thick mates graduating from college, and the period of their life which undergoes the transition of college to the big bad world. Love happens of course, but the dominant feature of the movie is the bonding between Akash, Sid and Sameer - the highs and lows, the amiability and disagreements, the feeling of losing what 'always shall be' to circumstances and blunders and the eventual getting it all back! Such a friendship, we say, Dil Chahta Hai!
