With the Friday bash on its way, Jalebi a film which quenches your thirst for heart-warming and touching content is slated to hit the silver screen on October 12, 2018. Bollywood actors Varun Mitra and Rhea Chakraborty talk about their upcoming romantic drama and ambitions for future projects.

Can you give details about your character?

Rhea: My character Isha who is a sweet fun loving girl who wants to explore the world and loves to write and as she carries on her dreams and ambitions for being a writer she falls in love with Dev(Varun) as he is a very sweet guy. Being from Mumbai and struggling to write and fitting into old-Delhi handling her career and her love life is a struggle in itself that my character goes through. As she falls in love, Love is the top priority in her list and it is a love which happens only once in a lifetime.

Varun: My character is very simple as he is happy with the little things that he receives and Dev (Varun) who is rooted in old-Delhi as he is very culture oriented and modern as well. Brought up in the streets of Delhi and is loved by the people around him and support him throughout his life. And he is a tour guide in Delhi itself but the character is kind of a person who has the ideologies which are larger than life.

Your views on what does the Film's title 'Jalebi' suggest and what does it symbolize?

Varun: Well, according to me Jalebi is a sweet romantic fun-loving film which talks about the problems that the younger generation comes across even after marriage. The title suggests the twisted meaning of love and how it portrays the sweet yet twisted meaning of love.

How was your experience working with Mahesh Bhatt sir?

Rhea: So everyone on the sets were involved and we always had Bhatt sir on the sets it would be very amazing as he would guide us in all sorts of ways, he has been a fatherly figure for me as he would tell us what to do what not to do, he literally handled us like babies.

It was very warm and affectionate as taught us a lot of things which can be implemented in our career as he always used to push us to a greater extent and doing such intense shots and talking about your life about your ex's it was a great experience. He always used to share his real-life stories and his experience which was a great experience altogether. And I'm very grateful to Jalebi that I got a chance to work with him on such an extent it was really great.

Varun: I learned a lot. With Mahesh sir always there to guide us and shared his experience it would be really very great, and as the human tendency to absorb what you want to learn and experience it would be really great as he taught us all sorts of things to work for the film.

The film's trailer leaves you with a saddening touch, what were the emotional set-backs you faced on the sets and behind the camera?

Rhea and Varun: Yes, there were many in fact, the whole process of filming as my character made it a wonderful yet emotional set-backs were there as some scenes were quite intense and the emotional bonding that it really affecting by it.

Who are the directors you wish to work with?

Rhea and Varun: So, I was very lucky for a chance to work with Mahesh Bhatt sir and I completed that dream. It was very amazing as he taught me a lot, also when it comes to the directors I want to work with are Imtiaz Ali, Anurag Kashyap, Anurag Basu, Karan Johar yet there are a lot of names in it though.

Back in 2012, you worked for a south film, comparing the south to Bollywood, Which would you prefer?

Rhea: What I feel is, a film is something that gets shaped on how you try to shape it. It is the director's creativity that flows within the film as he is the one who constructs the film. It is the directors I want to work with but it is the script that amazes me as it is something that I can decide. And there is no specific industry that I want to work for.

Recently Mahesh Bhatt addressed you as a 'long distance runner', What is your take on it? What is the story behind it?

(Surprised, excited and laughing) You should really ask him this question actually.

After Jalebi, what are the roles and genres that you would like to explore?

Varun: There are no specific genres as such but I would really love to act for a maddening character as there's a madman hidden inside me! But I hope I do justice to the character!

Rhea: I want to work for an action film actually where I get to be the hero in an action film where I get to fight with the villain and not get saved by the hero actually.
