As your first film was a romantic movie, how did you end up in a war movie?

I think like everyone who wants to buy a car wants to buy a Rolls Royce at some point in their career, after all the hard work and after all the struggle and after changing many jobs after changing the country you end up buying a Rolls Royce, I consider JP Dutta as the Rolls Royce of the Indian cinema especially war films and he turned out to be the Rolls Royce, and my second car turned out to Rolls Royce, and I'm very lucky for that.

It is a real character and its not fiction, and he got a Mahavir chakra, he's the character I will be playing if I tell you the name and if you google it you'll get to know the ending of my character which I don't want to happen but, unlike every actor, every actress when wants to enter Bollywood dream about the red chunri and sarso ke khet and she's running on a slow shot this is the dream that they carry, but its just in mind unlike girls boys dream for their in the war film.

Every guy dreams of handling a gun and say a courageous dialogue and break the enemy that is the inner feeling. That is what I dreamt about and all the video games that I've played, I've played games on PS4 like metal guns solid, battlefield, call of duty, medal of honor these are the games I've played.

Since my grandfather was a Colonel so I've been in a cantonment area so back then these were also the 500 shoes and even today they are 500 shoes, you can buy these in the army canteen only my shoe size has changed but my house full of green clothes, camouflage army clothes. If you have ever stayed in Containment area you'll know that your house will be full of olive green color, So I think you were heading towards this.

As this is a very intense movie and on-field you use real guns, how was your experience?

So I will tell you an embarrassing story, my grandfathers soul would be abusing me from heaven, so my house itself had 4 guns so I've done a lot of shooting and everything, I was raised in Gwalior so the mistake that I committed to this film is that, 1 there is a normal gun which is held in two hands and there was an LMG which is placed on a bio-pod which is shot while lying on the floor and it doesn't move from the floor, as it is very heavy, as it is very powerful the bullets can go anywhere, after you pull the trigger you don't have the control over the bullet even If you have physique even if you are Dharasingh you are not allowed to lift the gun, you have to sit for it. The third is placed on Bio-pod called MMG, LMG which I was using as I am playing the character of Sardar, you can imagine the excitement that I had in me during the shoot, so while that, I lifted the gun and fired it. And now it was time for a close shot, the next day.

So we went into the army area, they provided us with real guns real bullets, so they asked me what was your shot, so I come running here, jump there and I pick up this gun and I fire. He said no no no, you can't pick it up and fire, I replied no no no I already fired it in long shot, so he asked me how will you be able to pick it up and fire it, you are not allowed to pick it up.

And JP sir stood by me and fought for me and said he has already picked up the gun and he has already done that so now you give me the permission to shoot with the real guns and LMG on his hand so I guess I'm the only guy who has picked up an LMG in his hand and shot, and that too when there were 4 camera shots and the 3 shots are placed here and I'm firing the gun, so this camera man here had already made His LIC life insurance, in spite of that he was so confident as they knew harsh sambhal lega. And thanks to my training and everything I could pick up an LMG and fire it, even though it is an embarrassing moment but it was a once in a lifetime experience, but I don't feel that anyone has been allowed to do that

You have a great female fan following, is there any such incident related to that after this movie or earlier?

I feel it has been a blessing to be very honest, as the film works more on TV than in theaters and its a blessing, and when God says you will get your dues, if you don't get it like this you will get it like that I think that's what I got and I guess Boys and girls has shared much love for this film and they show it to me on social media.

Talking about fan moment I got many messages on Twitter, with a photo saying we are sitting in JANGO(the name of my jeep) I realized that I don't lock my jeep and its an open jeep. And everybody has got my address and they all come and sit in my car one by one and click pictures and send it to me. If I have to leave somewhere I first check if my jeep is empty or if someone is sitting in it, when I see people sitting in it, I've just run back up-stairs, now that my jeep and my bike are outside have become a public property. Yesterday itself a girl sat in my car and clicked a selfie, and they get on the jeep and do all sorts of things.

I've never liked the concept of a lock as I ran away from home when I was 16. When I ran away I was from Gwalior and I ran away to Delhi, and the first job that I got was that I used to serve food in a small mess. I used to sleep with his kids in the kitchen and there was an STD booth beside the mess and I used to scribble the numbers and multiply them and the money was kept by the owner. I used to maintain my log book.

My handwriting was good and a cyber cafe owner noticed so he came up to me and said how much do you earn from this, so I said 10 so he asked me I will give you 20 will you do it for me? So I joined him obviously I took permission from std guy, and then I became a distribution guy a courier boy and started supplying CDs.

At 2004 there was Yogesh Ji at Yamaha So he asked to me come asap so he gave me a helmet and asked me to go fast and at Hayat residence Delhi, and the one who I had to deliver the parcel was John Abraham, that's how I met him is 2004, and whenever you meet him, about Harshvardhan and his helmet. He remembers me and our relationship for 14 years has been there and I respect him and He still says why do you even call me Sir now, I always say Tabhi bulata tha aur aaj bhi bulaunga and he sends me so much of love and he calls me and call him for dinner and I can't call this its a warmth that he has shown me there are a lot of jobs that I've done I've also picked up DJ's bags.

The world is very small, Arjun sir had a club called Lap in Delhi, there was a DJ 4 years ago in the club and I used to assist him and he called up Arjun sir 6 months ago and asked Harshvardan Rane in your film? He said yes and he said he was my assistant and he used to pick my bag.

Imagine its such a small world, so whatever you do today it will come back to you one day or the other, so this is what has come back to me today and today I'm sharing screen space with Arjun Rampal Sonu Soodh Gurmeet and I initially thought he must be very strict but it turned out that he is the biggest prankster, and he is extremely funny and when I saw Gurmeet, I thought he is so famous he must be very arrogant, but he is the opposite of arrogant so I believe at the price of NCRT he should be sold. He's a pleasure to be around and he has a very humble background in a small village and when he shared his story I can relate to it really well. So that is the story.

Your movie was released two years ago but now you have the next movie after such a long time? Why?

You are just looking at the 2 years but then you aren't observing the 15years of struggle. So in these 2 years I heard 156 scripts I met everybody, everybody has come to me with script and its not rejecting and I don't think I'm in a position to reject anything but I want to fall for something, its like when you look out for marriage you don't reject people, you want that connect, you can't say your this snotty you are so arrogant that you've rejected so many boys, have you like any guy?

It doesn't mean that you rejected that guy it means you didn't like that guy that is the difference between these 2 things. I don't think that I rejected anything its just that it didn't work out for me now there are two things I can do but since JP sir has already signed me for 3 more films.

JP sir has been a fatherly figure for everyone, what was your experience with him?

People ask me is JP sir you mentor? I say mentor is the one who catches someone from a jungle and teaches you how to somersaulting on the slash of a whip. I call JP sir as a ringmaster as I was already somersaulting.

I was already trained and he just had a whip in his hand, he just had to tell me to jump and I instantly jumped on his voice at the leak. If you notice my hand there would always be cuts on my hand, and in total, I had 27 cuts in my hand. As its Ladakh, it's not some set. And once you wear a PUGGDI there's no place to hold back. Because you are responsible for the whole community, it's not some costume its a statement its a representation. That is a pride that is a responsibility that you carry on your shoulders.

What made you so interested in Paltan

As I mentioned about the Chunrri wali feeling its the same for the guy towards the war film. Doing a war film maybe his hidden or maybe not but it's his deepest desires, everyone has but no one shares them. Similarly, every-other guys have that desire. And I was cast 3 hours ago, as Abhishek sir had rejected the role.

Now that J. P. sir has signed you for three films, don't you think it would be monotonous to do war films again?

No, it's not a war film, its a surprise.

What was the chemistry with all the actors and what were the fun moments?

To be honest, it's somewhat embarrassing, when you see Arjun sir you always think how good-looking and handsome can a guy be and when you hear his voice it blows off your mind. You think who cool can a guy be and suddenly you're on set with Arjun Rampal then Arjun looks at you and asks do you wanna go to the loo? That would be definitely yes even if you don't want to! And while shooting in Ladakh we were urinating from cliffs and suddenly he bets 500 and says let's see who can urinate the farthest, that's the kind of a guy he is.

He is a next level prankster, there are no limits to that. And I used to enjoy this side of Arjun sir! And I don't think he knows, a lot of my friends call me and ask did you have fun how was the feeling what he says what we do since we don't come from the filmy background, and I always used to think Sonu Soodh is such a big guy, he doesn't even end, and Sonu sir is the most helping guy that I've ever met. Siddhant and Gurmeet are there and I think I can't call it a family because it sounds politically incorrect for me but I can call them friends, as I believe friend are more than family for me as I ran away from the family and I might get the claustrophobic feeling. And there's a bond its like if I see anyone or Arjun sir see's me in trouble we will jump for each other and that's something that you earn with time and that's what I've achieved.

What is the kind of genres you looking out to explore?

The Kind of genres that would make you smile(audience), anything that will make you proud. When fans see my movie I feel the responsibility of towards them. And I don't want to do any explicit movies which the girls cannot watch with their family and I don't want to be a part of those films. I don't want the cringe taste in my movies, that is the genre that will make me proud.
