Annu Kapoor is an Indian film actor and television presenter best remembered for hosting the vocal reality show Antakshari from 1993 to 2006 and his roles in Mr. India, Vicky Donar and Jolly LLB 2. He received Film Fare award as well as National film award for Best Supporting Actor for Vicky Donor.

Currently, he does a radio programme on 92.7 Big FM called "Suhaana Safar with Annu Kapoor on 92.7 Big FM". It's a daily show that features nationally on the radio networks covering all Hindi speaking radio stations across the country.

He recreates the magic of the Golden era with unforgettable melodies of that era and untold stories of the stars and films of the Hindi Cinema. The show comes with the tagline "Filmy Duniya Ki Kahi Ankahi Kahaniya".

So, we recently caught up with him on a telephonic interview where he talked about his show "Suhaana Safar with Annu Kapoor."

Your morning show has become a massive hit so what are your views on the show?

"Firstly, our Indian society loves cinema and cricket so anything to do with cinema and cricket presented properly will be a hit, so the content of the film, story of the film or the stars of the film is loved and respected by the fans and fans build temples for them. Therefore when the programs are run for these filmy stars and have been presented in a proper manner this is the only reason we find for the show to be a hit."

What inspired you to be an RJ?

"No, I am neither RJ nor PJ nor FJ whichever concept I like and if it works out well."

Which is the most memorable episode for you?

"No, I won't be able to tell you because in the span of five years I have done more than 1500 episodes. So for me, it is very difficult to differentiate which episode was memorable which was not. We try our best to make each and every episode memorable."

Do you have any incident which touches your heart or you still recall it?

"I remember each and every story but still, there is a story of K L Saigal who used to go to slums in his struggling days to sell the sarees. Suddenly one day a girl came to him because she liked one of the Saree which cost rupees 5; she told him that right now I don't have money. She also said that she is an orphan and she stays with her brother who takes care of her. My brother will get his salary after 10-15 days so when he comes I will talk to him about this Saree and he might purchase this for me but can u promise me that u won't sell this saree to someone else. K L Saigal promised that he won't sell that particular green saree to someone else until she says no.

After 15 days when K L Saighal reached there, his brother came out and told him that 'I know that my sister promised you.'  K L Saigal asks him 'Where is your sister?' So his brother took K L Saigal at his place where he saw that the girl's dead body was lying. Her brother said that I tried my best to save her and all my salary have been spent on her treatment so I sorry that I won't be able to fulfill my sister's promise. Saighal said that there is no need to apologize he just took out that green saree and said that ' I was not able to see her wearing this saree but at least I want that this saree should be a part of her shroud.'  This was the most emotional and sentimental story which you can't forget."

How you prepare these stories?

"I have 5-6 intense writers who work under my supervision. This is a very difficult job because every story consists of 4-5 segments."

Who is your favorite from this industry and what kind of bond you share with them?

"I don't believe in favoritism but the celebrities with whom I share a great bond are Smt. Jaya Bachchan, Shri. Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendraji. But I don't belong to any particular camp. I don't have friends nor enemy."

Would you like to give any message to our audience?

"The audience has to grow maturely and also with the intelligence. Audience should understand that to motivate and appreciate good things because it is their responsibility towards our nation. "
