One of the most versatile actors, R. Madhavan who has spread his wings as an actor, presenter, and film producer and even as a television host has proved his skill with his onscreen presence. The actor is currently busy with the promotions for his upcoming film 'Saala Khadoos' which will hit the theatres on 29th January, 2016. The actor shares with us his experiences and other aspects from the film.

Q: We have had many instances of sports based movies in Bollywood earlier. So what different are we going to see in this film here?

A: Any sports film and not just boxing will have a team, a coach and they will always have a problem between the two and will have odds that they need to deal with at the end. So, under those circumstances, this is not going to be any different film. But in terms of the way the story unfolds, the character comes and the realism of the script in the terms of the way it has been shot. I think in all such ways the film sets itself apart dramatically from all the films.

Q: So, like now this year also we have many such sports movie coming up, but yours will be releasing first. So, do you think that you will get to enjoy the first movie benefit?

A: I hope that it does well. Obviously actors like Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan don't require endorsements to make their film a hit. But as far as sports films are concerned and one of the reasons why I did this film was because the way it was made and turned around, I think that will have a good implication on the industry. But you know people are quick to give it a category just to secure them but I hope that film will be a hit.

Q: So are you happy from doing something different from what you've done before?

A: Just in my defence, I don't think there's any film that I have not repeated any film that I've done because of my own weird interpretation to what I would be seen as. From 'Ramji Londonwaley' to 'Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein' it was very different to what I've done. So yes, I have stayed similar to my tastes and done something very different. But this one was physically demanding, I had to transform myself. I learnt boxing and come across as a mountain and I think that was the challenge I took up and I am happy with that stamina.

Q: Did you have to go through any physical training and all of that?

A: It took me two years, I leaned to box, and I built up my physique, I learnt how to walk as a mentor for boxing, I also learnt how to talk with braces in my mouth. So I've done a lot of things which might not be noticed and will be in the background as I am not boxing in the film fighting with anybody. But you will know this guy and that was the whole idea.

Q: We see that it's a bilingual film and will be releasing in Tamil also. So what was the reason behind making it Tamil as well?

A: yes, this in Hindi and Tamil, because you know we had to shoot a lot of action scenes once again. So the advantage is that the cost of production comes down by 60 percent. So if I am making the film for hundred rupees then I will get to make it in 42 rupees itself.

Q: What do you look from the film ahead and what message are you trying to give here?

A: So this film is about two very broken people who are very good but they are not accepted in their circle because they are rude, they are crude and they are exceptionally good but they don't care for rules as it doesn't suits them. They do what they think is right, so they both are hated. They are removed from their own fraternity and then they get together and find boxing as a common passion and how it gives them the ultimate glory and makes them distinct. I hate to give message from my family. I mean you've come with your family so enjoy the film with your popcorn and involve in it and go back. But if you tend to take any message from it like in 3 idiots, it gave you lessons irrespective of it entertained you or not. So this film is all about how audacity keeps you going on. That's it!
