Bipasha Basu is making a thrilling start of year 2015 with Bhushan Patel's Alone. India-Forums caught up with the actress who in a candid interview shares her experience of working on 'Alone', why she prefers horror movies and her on & off screen chemistry with debutant Karan Singh Grover.

Tell us about your role in Alone?

This is the first time I am doing a double role, but not only that, in Alone, I got a chance to play the actual ghost, for the first time. Though Sanjana and Anjana are conjoined twins, there is a vast difference in their personalities. During the course of the movie, they get separated where one is alive and one is dead. Both the women love the same guy from the childhood, but their style of loving is quite different from each other.

What was most challenging while shooting this film?

Shooting was bit hectic especially playing conjoined twins which I had to do with my body double. I used to do one scene as 'Sanjana' and then same scene will be repeated with hair and make-up changed as 'Anjana'. It was a new experience for me technically. Also, this is the first time I am playing a Ghost. In real life, I get scared easily but to frighten somebody else, it took lot of time. I used to be little skeptical while doing those scenes but with Bhushan's (Director) help I believe I have done a convincing job. I look very scary and it's very hard for me to believe it too!

After doing back to back horror movies, have you got used to this genre?

No, I have still not got used to it! I get scared of my own movies too! When I saw 'Alone' at the initial stages without any special effect, I was still terrified. I shut my eyes whenever the ghost appeared on the screen and asked Karan 'Gayi woh?!' and to which Karan replied, 'Woh kaun it's you only!' that's how scared I got.

How different is Alone from your other horror movies?

First of all, I don't think of it as a horror movie. According to me, it's a love triangle between two sisters and the guy they both love. Among two sisters, one is dead and it is the unfortunate part. I had not done a love story for quite some time and 'Alone' is a passionate love story. I don't like rom-com type love stories. I like stories which are real but at the same time surreal!

Is it a conscious decision to make similar genre movies?

I believe it's more like a herd mentality as far as business is concerned. Whatever super-natural movies I did in the past worked at the box office and so the same are offered to me. I choose the best from them.

How will you describe your co-star Karan Singh Grover?

Karan has lot of talent. He has the potential to be an A-list hero in our business, because he looks great, he dances well. His emotional scenes are the best and he has that intensity in him, so I think he fits effortlessly in the films we make.

How comfortable you were with each other while doing intimate scenes?

Actually Karan is a brat! He talks non-stop and makes fun of everything, which is good because due to this the ice was broken on the first day of the shoot itself. It has put me at ease while shooting the intimate scenes.

Didn't you hesitate while doing a movie with a newcomer?

I absolutely had no problems working with a newcomer and you can't call Karan a newcomer with his 10 year experience on the small screen.

Looks like you have stopped doing films with established stars.

Who told you that?! I recently did a movie with 'big' stars - Humshakkals!!! And it became the most horrorifying movie of my life.

Does it mean that you won't work with Sajid Khan again?

No, never! I am smart enough not repeat the same mistakes again; instead I can make new ones.

What are your plans for the coming year?

I don't believe in planning much in advance. I believe in going with the flow, but I would definitely try to do something solid in the field of health and fitness. I want to be the good will health ambassador for India!
