"I'm more of a moody dresser" - Chitrashi Rawat

Comments  Comments [ 3 ]    By Nadia M. | 12 February 2012 | 1:00pm

At the mere age of 17, she represented her state at national level as a left striker hockey player. Now, having debuted as the feisty hockey charisma in Chak De! India, she rules the big screen in her small way; with a handful of movies in her kitty, hosting experiences and highly entertaining reality shows. Fondly known as Short-Kut, we have the amazing Chitrashi Rawat in a special candid with BollyCurry!

You are a hockey player and even represented the Uttarakhand hockey team in the National Championships, do you miss playing hockey? Or do you still take time out to play?
Oh yes. I miss playing hockey more than anyone can think of. It was a part of my daily routine for 7 years, it's not easy to forget. Unfortunately, I don't get time to play hockey anymore. It's just once in a while, if I get chance I don't miss it.

You have tried almost everything on TV from acting to comedy shows and even reality shows, which did you like the most and why so?
Well, both had a different high. I learned a lot from both the shows. Comedy show was bit difficult, it required a lot of time and practice. But I guess I didn't quite like the idea of me doing a stand up comedy. Loud and over the top acting didn't go too well with me, haha. And for the reality show, what I did, I thoroughly enjoyed, it was a pure adventure. And I always wanted to do it. It was a great experience.

You were in Fashion, how do you relate to fashion? Are you one for fashion and style or do you prefer comfort?
Well, fashion to me is comfort ,of course, with little bit of style. Fashion is something which keep changing with time. It comes back, it goes back again. I'm more of a moody dresser, but I usually like to look presentable all the time.

You were working on Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya with Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza. How was the atmosphere in Patiala and on the sets? Any funny stories to share?
It was entertaining. Having Ritesh on the set was pure entertainment and laugh riot. Had a really good time shooting with both of them. They both are so nice and humble actors. One funny story I remember was when our whole cast went to see Singham in Patiala. We all were so excited. In the theater, we were screaming, clappinh, whistling. So next day on set, Ritesh and I bet on who can whistle louder and whoever wins will get 100 bucks. I did give him a hard fight but just to make both of us happy our E.P. declared it a draw and gave both of us

50 Rs each. That was a lot of fun.

Can you tell us a bit about your role in TNLHG?
My character's name in the film is Dhani and she is a pickpocket. Dhani is a name referred from Rajdhani Train, because that train is her specialty. But she wanted to become a magician, so for her it's not stealing, it's a magic of her hands.

We also heard that you have signed another as yet untitled movie that is already under production? Can you tell us a bit about it, like your co-star, the plot or what role we may get to see you in?
Yes, I've signed a new film for which I started shoot in January, and the other one is almost ready. We'll be launching it in international festivals. The film has turn out well but the rest of the details I'm not allowed to talk about.

Apart from movies, you have also kept yourself busy with hosting some major shows in the US. Could you tell us how you came across the opportunity and how the experience was?
Oh yeah, in the US there is a huge Indian community and they all love Bollywood. I keep getting invites for hosting a show or to be a guest of honor. Few months back I was a celebrity host for one of the biggest dance show in New Jersey and now they're planning to launch it in India as well. I also participated in LA for Sheriff County Awards for all the cops who have done really well in their job. Trust me, it has been a great learning experience for me.

Fans have liked you since quite some time now and most say that the title "Short-Kut" from the movie Luck suits you immensely. Any messages for your fans on India-Forums?
HaHaHa...what can I say? As long as people like me, and appreciate my work, I'm more than happy. And for all the India-Forum fans, I thank you all from the bottom of heart for loving me. I'll try my level best to keep entertaining you all for as long as I can. Love to all!
