Casting Sonakshi gave us a new interesting pair: Shirish Kunder!

We are back once again with The Buzz with BollyCurry! This time we had a little chat with Shirish Kunder, popular Bollywood director. He is also married to Farah Khan and stepped into the spotlight after editing his wife's popular movie Main Hoon Na. After his first directorial venture Jaan-e-mann, he is currently working on his next Joker starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha. Read on to learn more about the much awaited movie from the man himself!

1. Are you excited about the release of your upcoming movie Joker?
Yes, very excited, especially since I'll be having a release after 6 years. My last film Jaan-e-mann released in 2006. The release date of Joker hasn't been finalized yet, but it'll be some time in 2012.

2. It is said that the movie title is still unclear, is "Joker" the title or are you planning a new title?
Joker is the perfect title for the film. No plans to change it.

3. This is your second directorial venture, and like your first movie Jaan-e-mann, this also stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role. Any particular reason for choosing Akshay again?
Comfort factor. We tend to work with people we know personally. So after working with Salman and Akshay together, I'm working with both of them again now - Joker with Akshay and Kick with Salman.

4. Was there a particular reason for choosing Sonakshi Sinha, considering she is still quite new to the industry and this will only be her second film? Why not choose a currently established actress like Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor or Priyanka Chopra?
The main reason was exclusivity. Akshay has worked with practically every heroine. Casting Sonakshi gave us a new interesting pair.

5. Joker is to be the second 3D movie in India; what prompted your decision to try the relatively new technology to Bollywood?
I was bowled over when I saw Avatar. It opened my eyes to this new medium. Here was a chance to give our audience an experience to view a story like they were actually present in the scenario, like they could reach out to the characters. And I like to innovate with technique and visuals, so there was no way I could let go of this opportunity.

6. Tell us what is special about Joker, what is unique about the film and what the audiences should expect when entering that theater.
Joker has a very unusual premise and story line. It's a new genre for Bollywood. And a lot of amusing visuals with good humour.

7. Last but not the least, this is your second venture as a director, can we expect to see more of your work in the future?
Yup, now I'll be making films in quick succession. My next, an action film Kick with Salman has already been finalized. More to come soon.
