Movie Review: Dil Bole Hadippa!

With both Wanted and Dil Bole Hadippa hitting the big screens this Friday, it seems to be Rani Vs. Salman at the box office. Unfortunately Aditya Chopra's latest offering - directed by Anurag Singh - doesn't quite hit the mark.

Reminding you strongly of Amanda Bynes 2006 Hollywood hit, She's the Man; Dil Bole Hadippa does it's best to combine larger than life entertainment, Yash Raj's tried and tested Punjabi scenery, and cricket.

Shahid Kapoor does a good job as Rohan Singh, cricket captain of a country team in England who reluctantly travels to India to aid his dad's [Could it be anyone other than Anupam Kher?] failing team to victory. Our hero is soon bowled over by Veera Kaur (Rani Mukherjee) - a cricket mad aspirant who transforms herself in to a Sardar in the hopes of being able to play under the new captain.

Thankfully the movie is made worth watching by Rani Mukherjee. Looking better than she has in years, Rani does a superb job as a male cricketer and makes Veera Kaur a memorable character in the otherwise cliche movie.

Sherlyn Chopra and Rakhi Sawant do their best to make a mark as Miss Chandigarh and the dancing queen of Jigri Yaar Dance Company.

Unfortunately, the Punjabi heavy music does its best to celebrate life but falls short of expectations and dissapoints as it leaves us with no memorable tracks.

Ultimately, watch the movie if you have nothing else to do over the weekend; and only then for Rani's amazing performance and the sweet chemistry she shares with Shahid.

at least yash raj kinda producers should make sth new right?? this was a nice movie in 2006, but didnt get whats the meaning of the translation... can't they have any story of their own?? alllllllllllllllllllllll the movies r bring translated..gosh they just change the name ..crappps all!!

I watched the movie on Premier Show and it did not stop me laughing in the whole movie. It is a full entertainer, full paisa wasool and Rani and Shahid has rocking chemstry!!!

I watched it and couldn't understand what the critics were talking about. Agreed, the story is a predictable mish-mash, but the film is a total entertainer from start to finish. What really makes the film work is the sweet chemistry between Rani and Shahid. I was not bored for a moment. Paisa vasool!

agree with the review... personally on a higher critical note i could give it 2/5... its fun n bolly n yrf n entertaining... n the actors have done very well... but the story is so typical n predictable, having known the outline from reviews made it worse, the dialogues were too much melodrama... i wish they'd let the actors be more themselves without addition of heavy dose overdone lines, they would do so much better... stll shahid-rani look good, n rani wins hearts- of boys as veera, of girls as veer!!

My Review:

The movie overall was pretty good. RANI simply rocked it and made it very comical ; her acting was awsome. Shahid was good and looked gr8 but his role wasnt strong. Songs were pretty good but the ishq hi rab song wasnt needed. it kinda reminded me of " aisa desh hai mera from veer- zaara) and esp since her guy character was called veer pratap singh. lol. although it was nice and didnt hurt the movie at all. The duo really look good together.

Overall watch this movie for the pair, and for the fun of it. you wont really take away anything from this movie except a big smile on ur face

its worth it.
