Jaipur, Nov 23 (IANS) They've lent sparkle to Jennifer Lopez and the Hollywood film 'Troy', and now ornaments by Jaipur-based jewellery house Amrapali are making heads turn at red carpet events in the West.

Oscar winner Halle Berry created quite a stir at the BFI London Film Festival in October when she attended the screening of 'Things We Lost in the Fire' with gold hoops, earrings and bangles from India.

Television star Sarah Michelle Geller wore Amrapali earrings and bracelets to the Lucky Magazine's 4th Annual Lucky Shops event. On Nov 2, Geller was again seen flaunting stackable Amrapali diamond bracelets at the premiere of 'Southland Tales'.

Amrapali had already made its mark in the international arena through its jewellery designs for films like 'Troy' (2004) and 'Valley of Flowers' (2006).

It is the era of East-meets-West and as sultry sirens take the jewellery route to Indian fashion, flashing Jaipur jewels at all events from movie premieres and black tie galas to the Emmys and the MTV Music Awards.

'At Amrapali, the creation of jewellery is not merely a tradition, it is an abiding passion,' Rajeev Arora, the man behind Amarpali, told IANS.

Precious and semi-precious stones add colour and richness to startling forms in gold and silver.

American actress Maria Menounos wore an Amrapali citrine and diamond necklace at the Emmy Awards this year. This piece was seen across the globe in all her promotional pictures.

Rating Amrapali as one of her favourite jewellery studios, Menounos has been resplendent in their creations at many photo ops.

'Each piece is fully handcrafted, be it purely traditional or contemporary, or a fusion of both. Our expert team is based in Jaipur, a region legendary for its gem cutting and polishing. They collaborate with their Western counterparts for ideas on contemporary trends and the results are always splendid,' Arora said.

Amrapali's main retail outlet and manufacturing facility is based in Jaipur while it has showrooms at Selfridges in London, the Oberoi Shopping Centre in Mumbai and an exclusive studio at Khan Market in New Delhi.
