In a place where franchises and sequels are set to dominate the silver screen in the coming year, there are some highly anticipated reboot films which are due for release in the coming year.

A tease at the memories and nostalgia revisited, we list the top five films that we just can't wait for.

Jumanji

It's hard and almost darn impossible to imagine a 'Jumanji' without the great Robin Williams. However, Sony has confirmed rebooting the film and plan to start rolling the film with a release in Christmas 2016. Some may term it to be a bittersweet moment, but it is surely one of the films to watch out for.

Popeye

An animated series which ruled over millions of hearts and a cult that can never be forgotten is set to be rebooted with a twist that is promised to shock one and all. The upcoming animated 3D film created a major stir when the first motion poster was released.

The Legend of Tarzan

A series that has spawned so many animated and feature films, one would think, what can be the novel element about it! The Legend of Tarzan has Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood fame) playing the titular role with an enviable supporting cast including Christopher Waltz, Djimon Honsou and Samuel L. Jackson. Also, the film is set to show why Tarzan is going to be forced to become 'Tarzan' again.

Ghostbusters

Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver had all laughing in splits along with brilliant supernatural elements with the 1984 film, Ghostbusters. Well, it is set to be remade, however, there is one twist, an all-female cast with impeccable actresses like Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. And, also, the original cast are set to make cameos. Need any more reasons to be restless about it?

The Jungle Book

Our favourite childhood memories are back! Mowgli is back to wow us with his amazing adventures in the jungles. And a set of seasoned and legendary actors have assembled together to fulfil it with Jon Favreau donning the director's hat for this 3D animation extravaganza.
