Anushka Sharma is currently gearing up for the release of her next film 'Sui Dhaga' where she will be seen opposite Varun Dhawan. The film is all set to hit the silver screens on September 28, 2018.

The film's trailer was recently released and soon after that, social media was flooded with various memes about Anushka's character 'Mamta'. The netizens were trolling her character left, right and center. Since then her memes have been ruling the internet.

The memes and trolls are all directed to a scene where Anushka's character is seen crying. They have been going viral for a long time now, to the extent that her co-star in the film, Varun Dhawan has labeled Anushka as: 'Memes Ki Rani'.

All this while, Anushka never said a word, but now, the 'Pari' actress has finally reacted to all of it and revealed that she finds them hilarious.

Speaking to Mid-Day Anushka said, "I thought the memes were hilarious. I kept sharing them with Varun, Sharat [Katariya, director] and my friends."

She further added that the memes are a compliment as it shows that the character of Mamta has resonated with the audience.

"It is a compliment that my character has been stuck in people's head after they watched the trailer. Mamta has become a figure that everyone identifies with. Memes have become a common feature today. People actually dedicate time to make them. But in our case, it happened naturally and that too, on a huge scale," added Anushka.

Just like the traction the character has got, she also wants people to actually appreciate her role as an embroidery artist. "It takes a lot of work to play a character that you have not lived. I had to be restrained. Also, Sharat tries to keep the narrative as raw and real as possible. You can't follow his vision unless you are completely immersed in the character,"  added the actor.

'Sui Dhaga' directed by Sharat Kataria is a film about finding love and respect through self-reliance. The plot of the film is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy and takes a leaf out of the Make In India campaign.
