Box Office Report: Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju BEATS Salman Khan's Race 3

Ranbir Kapoor has delivered a performance of a lifetime in this recently released biographical drama 'Sanju'. A biopic based on Bollywood's most controversial star Sanjay Dutt hit the theatres today and it has already managed to beat the records of box office king Salman Khan's recently released film 'Race 3'.

According to Box Office India, "Sanju has the highest ATP (Average Ticket Price) ever as far as a Hindi film is concerned though it is lower than Avengers - Infinity War which is the highest ever in India for any film. Given this, the advance collections of the film are above Race 3 and Dangal even as the tickets sales are less. Sanju is the highest advance ever excluding a Salman Khan starrer if Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Avengers - Infinity War are excluded. It is also the widest release ever for a young star as Sanju releases on 2300 cinemas reaching 4200 screens".

The top ten advances of all time in India are as follows

1. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion - Rs 37,53,00,000

2. Avengers - Infinity War - Rs 28,14,00,000

3. Tiger Zinda Hai - Rs 24,76,00,000

4. Sultan - Rs 21,53,00,000

5. Sanju - Rs 20,50,00,000 approx

6. Race 3 - Rs 19,16,00,000

These records will give a massive boost to Ranbir Kapoor's career as his latest films failed miserably at the box office.

If the initial reports are to go by then Sanju opened to shocking 45-50% occupancy in the morning shows across India and 60-75% occupancy for the rest of its shows. And comparatively, Race 3 had registered an occupancy rate of only 50%.

The report in BOI also reveals that Rajkumar Hirani's 'Sanju' has taken the third best opening of the year after Baaghi 2 and Race 3 in terms of occupancy.
