Meghna Gulzar's directorial cross-border spy drama is winning hearts all over. While mind-blowing performances by Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal are just adding up to the soaring success of this film. Raazi opened up with a positive response and is running strong due to the word of mouth at the box office!
All these rave reviews, phenomenal performances and amazing direction has helped the film collect Rs 56.59 crore in its first weekend. This figure has made Raazi the fifth highest blockbuster of the year, which is totally an achievement!
The films which have made it to the Top 5 list are Padmaavat, Baaghi 2, Raid, Pad Man and now Raazi. Raazi also replaced the most celebrated film Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety which was the fifth grosser with a one-week collection of Rs. 44.56 crore.
About Raazi's first week collection, the film in its opening day minted 7.53 crores and up its growth in the weekend. On Saturday the film had collected 11.30 crores and on Sunday garnered 15.11 crores. Looks like the audience thoroughly loved this movie and so the collection on Monday was 6.30 crores.
Tuesday and Wednesday appeared to be steady as the film collected 6.10 crores and 5.90 crores respectively. On Thursday the film collected 5.35 crores which brings the first week total of Raazi to 56.59 crores.
Talking about the film, Raazi is the story of an Indian spy (Alia Bhatt) married to a Pakistani army officer (Vicky Kaushal) and the film portrays patriotism of the central characters from the two countries on the verge of war (it is set just before the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971) with equal dedication.
Raazi is based on Harinder Sikka's book Calling Sehmat, which in turn is inspired by true events. The film also stars Rajit Kapoor, Shishir Sharma and Soni Razdan.
