Karan Johar announces a bang on 'MULTI STAR CAST' film!

KALANK will be directed by Abhishek Verman who has previously directed "2 States" which was co-produced by Karan Johar. After many speculations over Abhishek Verma's next film, the makers have finally announced the project and the cast which was earlier titled as Shiddat. Previously, the film starred Late Sridevi along with the entire cast but, due to her sudden demise on February 24, 2018, the makers roped in Madhuri Dixit for the role. 

However, now titled as KALANK the film is said to be an emotional journey as it was a dream project of Karan's father Yash Johar, almost 15 years back. However, the film couldn't happen at that time but, it is said to have that the filmmaker had done a lot of research. He had visited Lahore to understand how the situation could have been in the '40s. 

Confirming this Karan Johar says, "KALANK has been an emotional journey for me! A germ of an idea that I had nearly 15 years ago...a film that was in a pre-production stage helmed by my father...am now proud to Pass it onto the extremely capable and visionary hands of our director Abhishek Varman! A beautifully structured story by  Shibani Bathija and an exceptionally fluid narrative and screenplay by Abhishek."

Sajid Nadiadwala also added, "18th April 2014, 2 States had released...18th April 2019 KALANK begins its journey...this multi starrer with a story will cross all borders, under the capable direction of Abhishek Varman.  It is historic in the true sense of the word...I am genuinely happy to be back with the team Fox Star and Karan Johar..this film is special to all of us!!"

The ensemble cast starring Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur the film will go on floors by the end of April.
