After playing multiple characters in films like Haider, R...Rajkumar, Udta Punjab to name a few... the actor who plays the King Rawal Ratan Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmaavat" crosses 100 crore club within a week. While it is more than one time for his co-actors Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone but, it is the very first time that the talented actor Shahid Kapoor has marked the 100 crore club.

While having a conversation with us in an interview the actor not only spoke about his first time to hit this level of box-office but, also shared who is the most deserved person to take the credit for it.

"Everyone is talking about 100 cr grosser film (Padmaavat)...yes, it's a great film but, the first feeling that I have is that it has come a long way, it's a year and a half of our journey and there was a point we were wondering will this film be able to release properly or what? It's been a very turbulent journey and it's emotionally very draining and tiring. We were just waiting to showcase the film and share it with everybody."

He further adds, "The first thing is that I feel validated for the fact that the film has come out and people have said so many beautiful things about it. I don't know a single person who has walked out and said that something was not right. You feel good about the fact that the intent with which the film was made has been seen," says Shahid.

While both Deepika and Ranveer have equally important roles in the film, Shahid shared why he chose a to play a character that was never in the limelight before. He said, "The second thing I feel is that it was one of the biggest risks of my career to take such a role where for one and half year nobody knew what it is. So many of them had told me that why are you doing this film? What will be your role! People won't even know what you are doing in the film. When the film released I actually waited for two days to see what do people say."

"I knew that my character is an underdog in the film and I am so happy that the hero of the film is given that love. Out of the three characters, people knew a lot about Padmaavati and Alauddin Khilji but, nobody knew about Rawal Ratan Singh. Now that you have seen the film and we are talking about it you can see that his journey was also, so spectacular that the sacrifices he made, the way he stood between his stood between his wife and Alauddin Khilji...it was a beautiful journey but, nobody really knew about it and I wanted to showcase that to the world because I felt it was a journey which was worth telling you all. I feel really happy that people have walked out and shown so much love and support to my character", he states ahead.

As Kapoor has already received immense love and accolades not only from the audience but, also from the critics for his royal and poised performance when we asked him how would he react to the box-office numbers that are growing higher and higher each day the actor says, "I don't know how to answer this question because I don't think the box-office is up to any actor. I can at least speak for the current generation. How can I take credit for the numbers? And nobody should take the credit of "Padmaavat", the first person to take credit should be Sanjay Bhansali. I have seen how he has taken certain actors to a level just in one film and the actors who work with him they just jump (high) like that."

He further adds, "I am thankful that he has given me this opportunity and he has also taken me to such a wide audience and I know that in the years to come it will benefit me. Of course, it's not about "Padmaavat" it's about now what we do after "Padmaavat". "Padmaavat is his (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) credit, what we do after this film will define where we stand in terms of how people view us in terms of size or in terms of numbers. This film is all - Mr Bhansali, of course, we all three actors have worked very hard on the film but, he leads from the front and there's no doubt about that. I am happy to be the hero of this film because all the heroes of his film always become the bigger stars." (Laughs).
