My film isn't copy of 'The Longest Yard': Rensil

Mumbai, March 30 (IANS) Writer-director Rensil d'Silva, who is being accused of plagiarising the screenplay of David Dhawan's 'Hook Ya Crook', says he has not copied the script of the upcoming film from the Adam Sandler film 'The Longest Yard'.

'Hook Ya Crook' is a prison-break drama. So to that extent there'd be some similarity between 'Hook Ya Crook' and any other prison-break drama. Having said that let me make it clear that my film isn't at all a copy of 'The Longest Yard',' he said.

Rensil, who is currently editing his Kareena-Saif directorial debut, said he is eager to visit Hyderabad to check out the prison erected by David Dhawan at the Ramoji Rao Studio.

'Unfortunately, I'm so tied up with editing the canned footage of my film I can't take any time off,' he said.

he was like the only thing similar is this type of retrograde amnesia he has. uh, look again at the plot honey. is it really that hard for bollywood directors/writers to admit that things are a copy or to say the least inspired by some other work?

even BLACK had a tinsi little dedication at the beginning to helen keller. but the entire first part of the story is almost a copy of the miracle worker.

its so frustrating. stating references and giving people credit only ADDS legitimacy to your work, not detracts from as they think. in fact in the eyes of the diaspora, by not admitting they are doing exactly what they wish to avoid.

WHEN will ppl in this industry step up to plagarism.

and folks this applies to music too. like mann tune are exact copy of LOVE STORY (english movie), and the story is an exact copy of an old english movie.
