Divya Dutta's dialogue make-over

Divya Dutta's ability to mimic people at the drop of a hat held her in good stead in her new film 'The Last Lear' where she has completely transformed her voice.

'It was amazing!' said director Rituprano Ghosh. 'In all my years I've only come across actresses whose voice needed serious modulation help from the outside. But Divya actually changed her speaking voice to suit the character of the down marker nurse she plays in the film. At first I was skeptical about it. I thought she would end up sounding like a parody of the character. But Divya held the completely new pitch in her voice in place for the full movie. Amazing!'

Divya said: 'Rituji wanted me to sound different. He didn't want Divya to sound like Divya. I was asked to modulate my voice, accent and diction to sound like my character. When I tried a new voice Rituji loved it. I'm glad we tried something different through the voice. It adds a new dimension to the character. The voice changeover has made all the difference. Audiences will recognize and identify with the character immediately.'
