Here's who convinced Shahid Kapoor to star in Batti Gul Meter Chalu

Shahid Kapoor will be essaying the role of a lawyer in his next 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu' and we simply cannot wait for this courtroom drama.

After starring in successful films like Haider and Udta Punjab, Shahid will next be seen as Maharawal Ratan Singh in the highly controversial film Padmavati. Coming back to Batti Gul Meter Chalu, reports claim that it was none other than Shahid's wife Mira Rajput Kapoor who loved the script and said that this film is for him.

Sources revealed, "Mira absolutely loved the Batti Gul script and after she read it, she told Shahid that this was the film for him. She believes in the script and Shahid, who also took a keen interest in the project then, immediately decided to sign it".

Reportedly, Mira being a doting wife has constantly been a helping hand to her husband when it comes to choosing scripts. The source adds, "Mira has started taking a keen interest in the kind of movies her husband does. While she doesn't interfere with his final choice, she definitely has started to read the scripts left behind for Shahid and she gives him her inputs".

"Shahid is happy with this development. He appreciates his wife's feedback. He has also told his friends that since Mira is younger, she looks at things with a different perspective", the source concluded.

There have been rumours about Shahid and his wife Mira acting in a film together but Shahid cleared the air by stating, "It's quite interesting and surprising how this has randomly been coming up in the media (laughs). But it's for her to decide".

Helmed by Toilet: Ek Prem Katha's director Shree Narayan Singh, Batti Gul Meter Chalu is scheduled to release on 31^st August 2018.
