"Padmavati" is one film every Indian will be proud of

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmavati" seems to have fallen into the never-ending controversies.

Along with the film, Deepika Padukone who is playing the titular role in the film has been promoting the film in reality shows and by giving a couple of interviews has also been targeted by one of the Karni Sena members against making any remark on the release or else they will chop off her nose. While another Meerut-based Thakur leader, Thakur Abhishek Som leader offered INR 5 crores for her head.

In an interview to a leading daily, Deepika said, "Well, at this point, as a woman, an artist and a citizen of this country I feel angry, I feel let down and I also find it amusing." When asked if such threats scare her, she said, "I will never feel scared. Fear is not an emotion I have ever identified with."

She further added, "People are allowed to express themselves without having even seen the film. And having worked in the film, I can assure you it's one film every Indian will be proud of. I'm glad we are showcasing Padmavati's journey. Her story needs to be told not just to people in this country but across the world."

She also narrated about one of the scenes from the film. Speaking on the 'Jauhar' scene, she said, "That's a powerful moment in the film and it haunts me even today. The energy with which the women come together, the fire within, is almost spiritual. It's one of the most memorable moments of my career to date."
