While Rajput plays the role of an astronaut, Madhavan plays the role of a test pilot in the film. The film traces the journey of India's space programme and culminates with India's first astronaut landing on the moon in 2017-18. Apart from them,
Shraddha Kapoor and
Bhumi Pednekar are also said to have their part in the film and it is set to hit the screens on January 26, 2018 - on the occasion of Republic Day.
Interestingly,
Akshay Kumar's upcoming film, "Padman" is also slated to release on the same day. The film will be based on
Twinkle Khanna's book, 'The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad', which is inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham. Tamil Nadu-based social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, revolutionised the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine. Reportedly the film was expected to release in April but took a three-month jump to an earlier release date.
Reportedly, it was also being said that Padman is to clash with
Rajinikanth's "
2.0" that also features both Akshay and
Rajinikanth in the lead role. However, the latest we hear is that the makers are planning to shift the date of "
2.0" but nothing has been confirmed as yet.
