"Shorgul" has landed in a legal soup once again. A legal notice for breach of copyright was served to the makers of the forthcoming film by Chandigarh-based author Vijay Soudai.

Earlier this month, a PIL filed by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Milan Som against the film was dismissed by the Allahabad High Court bench in Lucknow.

A 24 FPS Films Production, the Jimmy Sheirgill and Ashutosh Rana-starrer is based on intolerance and aspires to make audiences contemplate where humanity stands amidst the noise of religious, social, political and economic prejudice.

According to a statement on Friday, Soudai's advocate has stated in the notice that the storyline and trailer of "Shorgul" have been replicated from his unpublished book - "Vande Mataram" - without his consent.

It is also claimed that the makers have misused the author's original creative work depriving him of the benefits, privileges and profits from the exclusive use of the same.

And actual lines from the book have been referred to in the notice that are an exact copy of what is being highlighted in the trailer.

The makers say that they are false allegations.

Producer Swatantra Vijay Singh said: "This is incorrect. Our film is not replicated from any other source and is a product of cinematic creativity, honesty and originality. Our legal cell will be addressing this issue as we have not infringed any copyright act and we have hold exclusive rights over the film's title and content."

The film is slated to release on June 24.
