Three classic Japanese films will be screened at Visva Bharati University in West Bengal on Saturday to commemorate the centennial year of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore's maiden visit to Japan.

Organised by the consulate general of Japan in Kolkata in collaboration with the Department of Japanese Studies (Nippon Bhavana), Bhasha-Bhavana of the university, the day-long film festival will showcase Masahiko Tsugawa's "Penguins in the Sky-Asahiyama Zoo", Takashi Yamazaki's "ALWAYS - Sunset on Third Street" and "Doomed" by Akira Kurosawa.

Tagore visited Japan in 1916.
