'Angry Indian Goddesses' struggles with Censors!

Pan Nalin's 'Angry Indian Goddesses', India's first female buddy film has already been sold in over 60 countries so far but the film seems to be facing hurdles in its home-grown country.

The film was recently submitted for censorship and had to struggle to finally see the light of the day for its release on 4th of December, 2015. The film faced unheard of cuts including not allowing women to use curse words whereas on the contrary, recent films which have been given an A-certificate have allowed "men" to use curse words with unapologetic approach.

Some other ridiculous things include - not using words like "maal", not allowing scenes of women checking out men, not using the word "Indian figure" and not allowing use of words like "adivasi".

A film that has globally managed to impress audiences and has been called as the first ever true representation of Indian women, how they talk, their desires and their feelings, has been asked to shy away from every small thing in the pursuit of how "an ideal Indian woman" is supposed to behave.

What's even worse is the movie which celebrates womanhood and goddesses had to put up a heavy fight to keep its title, "Angry Indian Goddesses", intact. Even scenes in the movie which have images of female goddesses have been asked to be blurred, stating religious sentiments to be hurt, even though there have been no alterations made to any image/form of the goddesses showcased in the film.

The film that won several accolades internationally, and been loved an appreciated by Indians across the globe, has been unfortunately treated with apathy and a close-to-rejection approach by the Indian censors. The film also won the runner up award of People's Choice.

The movie is slated to release on the 4th of December, i.e., tomorrow!
