Aamir Khan is known for his outspokenness. The actor never backs off from putting forward his ideas and speaking his mind. Apart from the entertainment world the actor takes a keen interest in political issues and has also supported various social issues.
Recently, Aamir Khan joined the debate on the growing 'intolerance' and expressed that he has been "alarmed" by a number of incidents. Here's what he shared during his interaction.
He was quoted saying, "As an individual, as part of this country as a citizen, we read in the papers what is happening, we see it on the news and certainly, I have been alarmed. I can't deny. I have been alarmed by a number of incidents," [sic]
He further added, "When I chat with Kiran at home, she says, 'Should we move out of India?' That's a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make. She fears for her child. She fears what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day," he said. "That does indicate that there is this sense of growing disquiet, there is growing despondency apart from alarm." [sic]
According to reports,
Aamir Khan also said that those who kill innocent people cannot be called
Muslims.
When the superstar was asked, “We are living in an age of terrorism and almost
always any act of terrorism in the world gets linked to Islam and understanding
that requires nuance. So what’s your take?
To this Aamir
replied, “Well, for me acts of terror are not connected to any religion so
whether it’s a person who feels he is a Muslim and he is doing an act of
terror, I don’t think he is following Islam or for somebody who is a Hindu and
is doing something which is violent or act of terror then he is not following
Hinduism. I don’t think so any religion teaches killing of innocence. So when
you see an act of terrorism or violence instead of calling that person a Christian
terrorist or a Hindu terrorist or an Islamic terrorist you should just call
that person “a terrorist” and remove the religion tag because he/she is
actually not doing what the religion is supporting and saying.” [sic]
