'Drishyam' mints Rs 46.28 crore in opening week

Released on July 31, "Drishyam", the official remake of the eponymous Malayalam film, earned an opening weekend collection of Rs.30.03 crore nett (Friday - Rs.8.5 crore, Saturday - Rs.9.40 crore and Sunday - Rs.12.13 crore).

It further garnered a steady inflow of collection and footfalls, recording Rs.4.05 crore (Monday), Rs.4.50 crore (Tuesday), Rs.4.10 crore (Wednesday) and Rs.3.60 crore (Thursday), totalling Rs.46.28 crore in seven days, read a statement from the production banner.

The story of "Drishyam" revolves around cable TV operator Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay), whose life revolves around cinema and his family; wife Nandini (Shriya) and daughters Anju and Anu. Tabu plays the role of police IG Meera Deshmukh in the film.
