Omar Sharif, best known for his roles in classic films 'Lawrence of Arabia' and 'Doctor Zhivago' has left for heavenly abode at the age of 83.

According to reports earlier this year, his spokesperson had confirmed the ill health of the star and that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
His manager Steve Kenis said: "He suffered a heart attack this afternoon in a hospital in Cairo."

Omar, who was born in Egypt, had won many acclaims for his acting skills. He won two Golden Globe Awards and an Oscar nomination for his role as Sherif Ali in David Lean's 1962 epic Lawrence of Arabia. Three years later, he received Golden Globe for Doctor Zhivago.

We pray the departed soul may rest in peace and heartfelt condolences to the family.
