World Sleep Day

To mark World Sleep Day Friday, a design competition showcasing sleepwear was organised by an international hotel chain.

Fashion models Thursday displayed the entries of the design competition that is somewhat of a novelty in India and was held simultaneously also in the hotels of organiser Crowne Plaza in the UAE, Japan and Singapore.

The hotel, managed by InterContinental Hotels Group, through the "Dressed to Rest" competition had invited design students from across the region to design stylish sleepwear that help to promote a good night's sleep.

The criteria required entries to create male and female sleepwear that was visually appealing, comfortable, creative and incorporated the hotel's logo and colours of burgundy and grey.

The India finale, held at Crowne Plaza Gurgaon, witnessed models led by the Indrani Dasgupta displaying sleepwear created by the students from fashion design institute Pearl Academy.

The winning design, with a higher quotient of sleep ergonomics relating to our postures and positions during sleep, will be adopted for sleepwear provided to hotel guests.

A winning design from South Africa has already been chosen as part of a sleepwear competition, which took place in partnership with South Africa Fashion Week in October last year, Crowne Plaza said.
