A Tamil activist group sought ban on the release of "Madras Cafe" in Tamil Nadu after seeing trailer, but Shoojit Sircar, director of the spy thriller, says the content of the film is simple and it has been cleared by the censor board with U/A certificate.

"Naam Thamizhar" (We Tamils), a Tamil activist group, sought a ban on John Abraham-starrer "Madras Cafe" for reportedly portraying Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) members as terrorists.

When asked, Sircar, who has also made films like "Yahaan" and "Vicky Donor", told IANS: "I don't think it will be banned in Tamil Nadu."

"Also, I feel the speculations have started too early. The story is very simple and clear. If anyone wants to take the political advantage out of it, I can't help that. They shouldn't comment before seeing the film."

"Madras Cafe", John's second production venture post "Vicky Donor", is based on terrorism and civil war. It is slated for an Aug 23 release.

"Also, censor board has given U/A certificate, which means they don't see anything objectionable in the content. Otherwise they would have cut the scenes. So, I would request them to watch the film first," he said.
