It will be a celebration of Indian weaves, crafts and young talent. The Lakme Fashion Week Winter-Festive 2012, which kickstarts here Friday, will present collections by a mix of veterans and new generation designers -- and gorgeous actress Kareena Kapoor will add extra zing to it by walking the ramp at the grand finale.

For the first time, Kallol Datta and Pankaj & Nidhi will participate as the grand finale designers.

Purnima Lamba, Head Innovations Lakme, told IANS: "Lakme's grand finale designers are hand-picked for being fashion visionaries - works with the concept of forecasting fashion trends for the season. We have complete faith in Pankaj-Nidhi and Kallol as designers to bring alive the essence of Lakme at the grand finale."

Keeping the theme in mind, the event will dedicate a day and allow designers, who use and promote Indian fabrics, textiles and handicrafts, to showcase their creations.

The Indian Textile Day will bring together industry veterans Jaya Jaitly, Darshan Shah, Maximiliano Modesti, Rita Kapur Chishti and Wendell Rodricks for workshops, demonstrations and panel discussions while Krishna Mehta returns as a curator for the day.

"All designers will showcase Indian weaves and crafts to extend their support to this unique initiative and help bring the dominance of Indian textiles and crafts to the fore. Winter-Festive 2012 will also see LFW presenting an award for the designer who best incorporates Indian weaves and craftsmanship in their collection," said Lamba.

Another highlight will be Gen Next that completes seven years this season and renowned designer and stylist Aki Narula will continue to mentor young designers. As many as seven new talents from across the country will participate in the segment.

Talking about Kareena, Lamba said: "Yes, Kareena will be walking for the Lakme Grand Finale, but I won't divulge too many details now. I can personally promise that it's going to be a fabulous show."
