Anita Raaj makes a comeback

Mumbai, Nov 30 It's the season of actresses making a comeback. After Raveena Tandon in 'Bbuddah...Hoga Terra Baap' and Karisma Kapur, who is returning with 'Dangerous Ishq', it is Anita Raaj who is retuning with Samir Karnik's 'Char Din Ki Chandni'.

'Yes, I will be seen again this January after a long gap. My movie 'Char Din Ki Chandni' is releasing. Where had I disappeared? Nowhere! I was right here. Role bhi to honi chahiye (There should be roles for me),' said Anita, who will be seen as a Maharani in the film.

The pretty and vivacious Anita made a splash in the 1980s when she did a series of successful potboilers specially with Sanjay Dutt and Dharmendra. Some of her hits are 'Naukar Biwi Ka', 'Jeene Nahin Doonga', 'Iljaam', 'Karishma Kudrat Ka' and 'Ghulami'.

She also managed to hold her own in more refined films by Hrishikesh Mukherjee's 'Achcha Bura', which was her debut movie, Basu Chatterjee's 'Laakhon Ki Baat' and K. Balachander's 'Zara Si Zindagi'.

And then she vanished after marrying producer Arjun Hingorani's son Sunil. Anita was content looking after her home, husband and son.

She says she had no craving for arclights unless the offer was worth her while.

'I did make a return to movies in 2007 in a film called 'Thodi Life Thoda Magic'. That wasn't seen by too many people. So I preferred to wait for the right opportunity,' said Anita, whose father, Jagdish Raj, played a cop in scores of films.
