Chennai, July 8 (IANS) A court here Friday dismissed the bail application of W. Hans Raj Saxena, chief operating officer (COO) of Sun Pictures, a division of listed Sun TV Network Ltd.
Saxena was arrested Sunday on charges of cheating and intimidating a film distributor.
The bail application was dismissed as the prosecution said the investigation was at a preliminary stage and the accused could intimidate the witness.
The prosecution also said a second first information report (FIR) had been filed against Saxena and he should not be given bail.
Sun TV is promoted by Kalanithi Maran, son of late DMK leader Murasoli Maran and grand nephew of DMK president M. Karunanidhi.
Film distributor T.S. Selvaraj had complained that Saxena cheated him of around Rs.8 million and threatened him when he asked for the money in connection with the distribution of Tamil movie 'Theerada Vilayattu Pillai'.
Sun TV Monday said it was studying the FIR against Saxena and taking legal recourse.
