I can write poems on Konkona: Madhavan

Mumbai, Dec 10 (IANS) Tamil superstar R. Madhavan, who has completed Rituparno Ghosh's bilingual film 'Sunglass', is going gaga over his co-star Konkona Sen Sharma and says he is so impressed with her that he can write poems on her.

Madhavan told IANS: 'We had a blast, especially, since I got to work with Konkona. I can write poems about Konkona. Directors say I'm a natural before the camera, but nothing compared with her.

'She just comes and takes over. Konkana is in both the Hindi and Bengali versions of 'Sunglass', she got to work twice as hard whereas I just sat back and watched her after giving my shots for the Hindi version.

'I never knew Bengal and Bengalis could be so much fun! Of course, I've met many really entertaining Bongs. But 'Sunglass' was a funfest. I didn't even know how the shooting swooshed by.'

After shooting for 'Sunglass' in Kolkata, the actor realises that the Bengali film industry is quite different from Tamil cinema.

'The world of Ritu's cinema and the cinema in Chennai are so different. It's like being in two different hemispheres. Ritu is so open to innovations, always adding things till the last minute.'

He giggles at the memory of playing a guy who gets into an extramarital affair after five years of marriage.

'That's what I like about acting the best. It gives you a chance to do things you'd never dare do in real life. I can never even dream of being unfaithful to my wife Sarita. Never! But I often wonder what it feels like to have an extramarital affair. I got my answer in 'Sunglass'.

'Extramarital relations are in vogue. Karan Johar's 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna' was about ties outside marriage. Ritu's film is also about infidelity.

'My take on the matter? No way! I think cheating on your wife for a fling is the stupidest thing to do after jumping off a skyscraper. I love Shah Rukh Khan's line - 'Rather peace of mind than piece of arse.' Amen.'

But Madhavan always wanted to do a naughty sex comedy.

' 'Sunglass' isn't like B.R. Chopra's 'Pati Patni Aur Woh' or Billy Wilder's 'Seven Year Itch'. But it's still very naughty and filled with fun. And that's the spirit in which we shot this film.'

Oh yes, the bonus.

'I got the chance to romance two very pretty Bengali actresses. Konkona and Raima Sen are so different as persons. And yet both are so Bengali. How do I define Bengali? Please check out all the actresses from Suchitra Sen and Sharmila Tagore to Sushmita and Bipasha Basu, can I go back to Kolkata again?'
