This morning there were reports of Fawad Khan being booked by the Lahore police after his wife misbehaved and refused the polio team visiting their residence to give their daughter polio drops.

The reports stated that the polio team visited the Faisal Town residence of the Pakistani film star to give polio dose to their daughter, Elayna Fawad Khan. However, upon reaching there, the team received backlash from Fawad's wife Sadaf Khan, who initially "resisted and then misbehaved with the team", reported PTI. She not only refused to get administered polio drops to her minor daughter but also hurled threats and misbehaved with the polio team. Apart from Sadaf, their driver also misbehaved with the medical team.

"Fawad Khan's wife did not give any plausible reason for not getting her daughter administered polio drops. Either it is complete ignorance on the part of her or being a celebrity, showing no respect to the polio workers. This is highly condemnable behaviourof a celebrity family," Muhammad Jamil, a district official, told PTI.

Following this, the polio team then filed a complaint with the Lahore police who immediately booked the actor and lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against him.

The incident took place in Fawad's absence who is currently in Dubai, but the actor was still booked because as per the police, he is the head of the family.

Reacting to the same, Fawad has now refuted all the reports and released his official statement through a press release that's going viral online.

In the release, it's mentioned that neither Fawad nor his wife Sadaf Khan were at home at the time of the incident. It also added that Fawad Khan is well aware of the polio guidelines and fully supports the anti-polio drive. Take a look at his statement below:

"Fawad Khan has been out of the country since February 13 when he performed at the Pakistan Super League opening ceremony in Dubai. Currently the actor is in the United States of America. Fawad's itinerary clearly expose the fallacious nature of the said FIR. The actor came to know about the case through the press."

Fawad supports the anti polio campaign unreservedly and is well aware of the guidelines of the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control. The vaccination of Fawad's daughter is up to date and the record available supports the claim.

In response to the defamatory inquiry, Fawad reserves the right for appropriate legal redress including all such remedies against any damages caused by this event, should the FIR not be cancelled," Fawad's PR person shared.

Polio virus is still largely prevalent in Pakistan and the government takes its anti-polio drives seriously. It is one of the three countries in the world, along with Afghanistan and Nigeria, that suffers from endemic polio.

According to Pakistani law, in addition to fine, a person has to face imprisonment up to two years for failing to administer anti-polio drops to their children.
