ranveer singh struggles to control tears during an interview

It would not be wrong to say that Ranveer Singh is a bonafide Bollywood hero and has come a long way since his debut with Band Baaja Baaraat in 2010. Not just his acting prowess, he is known for her energetic persona, which is certainly palpable. Last year, he left everyone in awe with his portrayal of menacing Sultan Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmaavat and ended 2018 with a bang with his corrupt cop avatar as Sangram Bhalerao aka Simmba in Rohit Shetty's masala entertainer, Simmba.

But not everyone is aware that Ranveer has a quieter side to him as well, unlike his overall public demeanour. In fact, his wife Deepika Padukone recently pointed it out and it came out in the open during a recent interview. Talking about his spectacular success as a Hindi film star, Ranveer got extremely emotional and just couldn't control his tears.

"There are some characters (for which you have to cut yourself off the world). These are hazards of the profession. You face physical as well as emotional scars. If you are an actor who goes inside the skin of a character, it is bound to happen. But that's okay. I am ready to sacrifice anything for my craft. But there are times when a character takes a toll on you - playing Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat was very tough," the super talented actor said.

Furthermore, Ranveer felt a lump in his throat when he revealed his friend and casting director Shanoo Sharma's reaction when she saw Bajirao Mastani. He said that Shanoo, who discovered him as an actor, couldn't believe that the guy she has known for so long was the one playing Peshwa Bajirao in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film.

On the work front, Ranveer will next be seen as a rapper in Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy alongside Alia Bhatt. Apart from that, he has also started prepping for Kabir Khan's '83, which sees him in the role of former Indian Cricket team captain Kapil Dev.
