Playing a Sikh character was a big responsibility: Saif

New Delhi, July 12 (IANS) Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who is playing a Sikh in some parts of his debut production 'Love Aaj Kal', says essaying the character meant a lot of responsibility for him.

'You have to work with great responsibility while playing certain characters so that you don't end up hurting others' sentiments. I have played the role of a Sikh gentleman in this film with sensitivity. A lot of work went behind it in order to make the character authentic,' Saif told reporters.

'We took care of the costumes, the look, mannerisms, dialect and a lot of other things like I was told not to smoke while wearing the turban while we were shooting for the film in Patiala,' he added.

'Love Aaj Kal', directed by Imtiaz Ali of 'Jab We Met' fame, also stars Deepika Padukone and is set to release July 31.

I actually don't mind kissing scenes as long as the scene in the movie actually asks for it. Just like how the last scene in kambhaqt ishq was so much rubbish!
Anyway my point was he's saying his actions were pretty clean while wearing a pagri e.g. no smoking but I don't see kissing constantly again and again (which is what it seems like from the trailers) as a very appropriate thing to do but that's just my opinion.

@hindu4lyf, though I dislike kissing scenes in bollywood movies because I feel they are unneccassry but what is wrong with kissing with a pagri on?? Saif is not playing a amritdhari sikh, he is playing a normal sikh man.

    I'm glad he thinks so.
Although not smoking is a good thing but kissing a co-star is fine when wearing a pagri? lol
