Movie Review: Hijack is a riveting thriller!

The season of comedies seems to have come to an end. It is now time for some fast paced action, with Shiney Ahuja’s next release ‘Hijack’, directed by Kunal Shivdasani and produced by Dinesh Vijan. The film is presented under the banner ‘Eros International’. For ‘Hijack’, Kumaar has provided the lyrics to the music of Justin-Uday.

Hijack is the story of Vikram Madan’s (Shiney Ahuja) life. Vikram Madan is a ground maintenance officer at the Chandigarh airport. Rajeev, the security chief of the airport, is his one and only friend. As luck would have it, the flight in which Vikram’s daughter is traveling to Amritsar from Delhi, is hijacked. A group of six terrorists takes control of the airplane to secure release of Rasheed (KK Raina) who had been captured by the Indian police. They threaten to kill the hostages otherwise. The flight is forced to land at Chandigarh airport. Vikram sneaks into the aircraft with the help of Saira (Esha Deol), an airhostess. What follows is one man’s fight against international terrorists.

Esha Deol" v:shapes="_x0000_s1027" vspace="5" width="175" align="left" border="" height="233" hspace="5">Though there is nothing new as such in this film but still you can feel the freshness. Kunal’s execution of the film is well crafted. The high-octane drama inside and outside the aircraft gives us the feeling of some Hollywood flicks.

Though the film is not lengthy as such but the script could have been made a bit shorter by avoiding other passenger’s intro and few rapid songs too. Also, Shiney's character could've been made better by making it less heroic but as it’s a bollywood movie hero can do anything single-handedly. Besides, the passengers in the aircraft failed to create the panic atmosphere convincingly. Kunal could have cast better/stronger actors instead of amateurs, to make the impact stronger.

On the whole Hijack is one time watch engrossing movie. Second half of the film is more enjoyable than first half.
