Bahubali - Movie Review

SS Rajamouli and Karan Johar come together for the first time with a war epic, Bahubali. What claims to be the most expensive project to be made in Indian cinema, does keep to its word, but also has its set of flaws and loop holes. Let's take a look at what we liked and what we didn't in the war epic.

What we liked:

The VFX: By far this has been the best VFX an Indian movie has ever been able to come up with. The way the movie has so well shot along with the VFX that one can hardly differentiate between the effects and the real shoot. The use of international artists for the VFX has surely proven to be the best decision by the makers of this movie.

Performances, all of them: Rajamouli has definitely got the best casting for his film. To start with the main star cast; Prabhas, who is the lead in the film has the perfect physic of a warrior and does justify the velour too. He has done his part well, even his romantic chemistry with Tamannah has summed up quite well on screen. Prabhas definitely personifies the term macho. Tamannah herself has done quite a good role. Her action sequences are the most noteworthy in the movie. Rana Dagubati plays the negative lead in the film. He dribbles sheer venom through his performance. He looks amazing onscreen and has awesome screen presence.

Locations: Even though a major share of the look of the movie are because of the special effects, but the locations are quite breathe taking too.

And then what we didn't:

Stretchy content: Probably because it is a period drama, it gets a little unbearable to sit through almost three hours of it. The editing doesn't seem in place and thus a lot of unwanted elements are seen in the movie. The movie actually couldn't be ended in three hours and thus promises for the next part in 2016, with a title, 'Babubali: the conclusion'

The awkward Hindi dubbing:  No matter how nice the content of the film is, any south based movie dubbed in Hindi, has to become a complete turn off when dubbed in Hindi. Do get to a Telegu or Tamil version with sub-titles, to get the true essence of the film.

All in all the movie is definitely worth a watch to see the different kind of storytelling. Women could surely go ogle at both Prabhas and Rana. So this weekend do go in for the war epic before Bhaijaan is all ready to jam the movie theatres.
