shamitabh movie review

Ego can get the biggest giants to crumble to the ground. That is one thing that should never get in between your personal or professional life. A person's ego can grow to such extend that it can make an individual hollow from within, without the person getting to know at all. And in case you are dependent on another individual for the possession you have reached in life, then your definitely should go flying out of the window. R. Balki's Shamitabh deals with a story about ego clashes between two men who can't live with each other, but can't let go of each other too.

Shamitabh is film that is all about, amazing performance, amazing performance and amazing performance. What less can you expect when you have exceptionally talented actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush coming on screen together. Amitabh Bachchan essays the character of Amitabh Sinha, in the film, who is an extremely frustrated man, owing to his failure to be an actor. For a person like Mr. Bachchan, who is known to be very docile and calm, to play a character who is frustrated drunken man was fun to watch. The best part is that this comes so naturally to him, that not even for a split second in the film, would one feel it's the Big B on screen. His wayward walking, his wobbly tongue while he speaks, makes it very believable that he is drunk quite literally. He is surely the epitome to great personality, talent and sheer excellence in the field of acting.

Dhanush - a man with a small frame, but roars on the screen. He plays the central character of Shamitabh in the film, is a struggling actor who tries to make it into Bollywood, but is ridiculed because of his disability. Without a single dialogue, he portrays sheer magic in the film. Eventually your heart would go out to him. To make Amitabh's voice look graceful on himself, was quite the challenge Dhanush had to face, and he does it well and how! Dhanush is one actor who has and will continue to make his mark with his sheer talent.

The surprise element in the film is Akshara Haasan, who takes everyone by surprise. For a debutant she has done a brilliant job. She doesn't seem to shudder for a second, when she is alongside superstars like Mr. Bachchan and Dhanush. She surely seems to have inherited her acting skills from such talented parents like Kamal Haasan and Sarika.

R. Balki yet again churns out another phenomenal piece of cinema and proves yet again, out of the box is simply out of the world. He continues to make light hearted yet fun filled movies like his earlier works: Cheeni Kum and Paa. Illayraja's music is simply splendid and one would definitely leave the cinema hall humming a tune or two from the album, like Pidly or even the title track of the film. The editing is crisp thus making the film only a little over than two hours. The movie does have a few loopholes but you tend to easily skip them because of the awesome cinema that you watch on screen.

All in all R. Balki's current offering, Shamitabh is a fresh feel for the movie goers with a plethora of amazing performances to look forward to. So this weekend its neither Dhanush nor Amitabh, its Shamitabh.
