P.K. - Movie Review

Cast : Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt, Sushant Singh Rajput; Director : Rajkumar Hirani;  Rating : ****1/2

Rajkumar Hirani, director par excellence!  He knows his skill and he knows it well. Every film of his leaves you with a thought lingering within, be it the Munna Bhai series or 3 Idiots or the latest addition P.K. Unlike any other film this movie gives out the twist right at the beginning and though one may find it illogical but everyone will be able to find their own logic which makes it a completely different movie all together. You would simply be in the awe of this incredible director, Rajkumar Hirani!

P.K., well can't really spill out the plot but has much to do with a simple guy's questions to the preconceived notions of the human race.

Well if we have to speak about performances let's just say, Aamir Khan.  Does one really have to say anything more?  He is a brilliant performer, he does every film with so much conviction that you actually start to believe in his character. Aamir Khan doesn't go wrong, well almost all the times. He plays the main character of P.K. in the film, is a simple guy, with inquisitiveness towards everything in life. The Bhojpuri accent that Aamir speaks in is hilarious and catchy. Aamir has the innocence of a child and the intelligence of a matured human being. As I fall short of words to describe his performance, he is simply splendid.

Anushka Sharma plays the role of Jagatjanani in the film and plays a news reporter. The new look in the film works in Anushka's favour and bring meaning to her characterization. She doesn't have any distinctive feature but still is very crucial for the film. Her chemistry with everyone in the film is great, be it Aamir or Sushant.

Sushant Singh Rajput plays the role of Sarfaraaz in the film, who plays Jagatjanani's love interest. He has a very small role to play but does a great job. One instantly falls in love with him with the charm he portrays in the film. Sanjay Dutt & Boman Irani who too shares an integral part & bring in superb comic timing to the movie.

Music of the film is quite average, Chaar kadam and Tharki Chokra is the best ones among the tracks in the album. The picturization of Chaar Kadam showcases the beautiful landscapes of Belgium whereas Tharki Chokra brings out the essence of the Rajasthani culture in India. The movie may seem a little long as the screen time is more than two and half hours, but one doesn't feel the length of the film and just goes with the flow.

All in all, kudos to Rajkumar Hirani and his team to come up with this awesome piece of cinema and to round up a fantastic year for Bollywood. So this weekend, P.K. jaana, as in P.K. dekhne jaana!
