Monsoon Movie Fashion

Ever heard of the statement, "It's raining cats and dogs?" That is exactly what India is like during the Monsoon season. Rain has always been a ruling factor in Bollywood, with the element popularly being used as a sensual and intense theme in just about every movie. With August barely waving the month of monsoon goodbye, BollyCurry brings to you this special dedication to the monsoon fashion donned in movies by our very own Tinsel Town celebs.

Sarees

Being the national costume in India, the saree has many different renditions in term of style, colours and the way it is worn. In Guru, we see Aishwarya Rai Bachchan donning a saree in the song "Barso Re Megha". She famously wore the pallu over the stomach area but a low cut in the back of the blouse was what made the outfit stand out.

Rani Mukherjee wore a red saree in the title song Hum TumThe blouse was seductively deep necked and was rightly accompanied by a low petticoat. The song was not only well written in terms of lyrics but also consisted of a good visual display where one can witness Saif Ali Khan and Rani reminiscing in the downpour.

Last in our list is the gorgeous Katrina Kaif in De Dana Dan. The multitude of sarees she wore in the song "Gale Lag Ja" had the whole world raving about her. The way she draped the long material and combining it with being drenched in the rain was definitely one of the best things in the movie, in terms of fashion.

Salwar Kameez

The salwar kameez will forever be in fashion, that much we can give as a fact. Madhuri Dixit was spotted wearing a salwar kameez in the song "Koi Ladki Hai" from the movie Dil To Pagal Hai. The film had a very successful soundtrack but this melodious and fun-filled song had everyone wanting to shake a leg with Madhuri and Shah Rukh Khan as soon as the heaven opened.

The chemistry between Aamir Khan and Kajol in the movie Fanaa was outstanding. Add to the mix the romantic and calming song "Dekho Na" and you're definitely in for a good time. The yellow coloured salwar suit that Kajol wore was very soothing to the eyes and not bright like we usually see in the usual rain tracks.

Ghaghra Choli

Sonali Bendre in Hum Saath Saath Hain is the first person who comes to our mind when we think of rain and the ghaghra choli. The song "Mhare Hiwda" saw the romance of the three lead couples but we will focus solely on Sonali Bendre and the charming Salman Khan. The white ghaghra suit once again was not too bright and a nice blend in with the transparency of the rain.

Lastly, we have the Pataudi Bahu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, who was seen with Shahid Kapoor in the movie Jab We Met. Kareena wore a black ghaghra choli of sorts in the song "Tum Se Hi", when Shahid imagines her in the rain. The mesmerizing song was a hit with audience but added to that was the perfect attire for the rainy season.

Monsoon in movies brings magic, romance, intensity, drama, and poetry. Here, BollyCurry ends its tenure to the monsoon special with this article. Amongst others are: Kareena Kapoor Khan in Chameli, Priyanka Chopra in Agneepath, Rani Mukherjee in Ghulam, Lara Dutta in Masti and Preity Zinta in Koi Mil Gaya

Do leave us with a comment on which monsoon attire you like best.
