Early Diwali in Melbourne

Diwali has come as early as Navratri in Melbourne, with The Festival of Lights celebrations at Federation Square on October 13. A 40,000-strong crowd witnessed traditional Indian and Bollywood dancers put up a spectacular performance. The event included a mouthwatering spread of Indian food, costume and jewellery stalls, dance and mehendi-application workshops and fireworks. For Indians, it was a special evening where family and friends came together for exchanging gifts and renewing ties.
