Raja’s (Aamir Khan) penny-pinching dad Hazari Prasad (Anupam Kher) wants Raja to marry a rich girl. He pretends to be a rich industrialist and persuades a millionaire, Mehta (Saeed Jaffrey) to allow his daughter Madhu (Madhuri Dixit) to marry Raja. Madhu and Raja are classmates in college and they hate the sight of each other.
