Singh was born as Sonia Singh on 8th July 1958 in New Delhi, India. Her
mother was Rajee Singh and appeared with her in a movie Rani Aur
Lalpari.
She married Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor, who is film
maker Raj Kapoor's son, in 1980. They have two children Ranbir Kapoor
and Ridhima Kapoor. Ranbir Kapoor is an actor while Ridhima is a
designer and married to Bharat Sahni.
Neetu
Singh started acting as a child with the screen name Baby Sonia in
movies like Dus Lakh (1966) and Do Kaliyan (1968). She got a role in
Suraj when the actress Vyjayanthimala recommended her.
Her
debut movie Rikshawala (1972) didn't do much for her career. In 1973,
she was seen in the successful Yaadon Ki Baaraat with Zeenat Aman and
Dharamendra. She worked with Rishi Kapoor in hits like Rafoo Chakra
(1975) and Amar Akbar Anthony (1977).
Singh was seen in Yash
Chopra's Kabhie Kabhie (1976) as Waheeda Rahman's daughter. In another
Yash Chopra movie Kala Patthar (1979), she was paired with Shatrughan
Sinha. Yaarana (1981) saw her with Amitabh Bachchan. The last movies
that she acted in were Chorni (1982) and Teesri Aankh (1982).
