Manjot Singh Biography

About Manjot Singh

Manjot Singh is a teenage Indian actor. He debuted in Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, for which he garnered many positive reviews. He also won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance for his role.

Manjot Singh was born in a Sikh family to an Engineer as a father and his stay at home mom, Amrit Kaur Singh.

Manjot's father, an engineer, got to know that Gagan Singh and his team were in Delhi scouting for actors and asked his son if he wanted to try it out. They went to Arvinder  for an audition thought Manjot had never acted before, even in school plays. After the end of the audition, the casting director of Dibakar Banerjee's Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! rejected Manjot Singh for the role of the boy who grows up to be master thief Lucky. However Dibakar Banerjee knew he had found his Lucky. "Even though the casting director wasn't convinced, I just put my foot down," the director said.

From the audition, Manjot went to Manali for a weeklong acting workshop. He was asked to observe the way Abhay Deol walked, smiled and talked so that he could imitate that in his acting. He even wore a cheek pad so that his jaw would look as broad as Abhay Deol's.
